The Affordable Care Act is Here to Stay

President Obama has been elected to a second term, and the Affordable Care Act is here to stay. This is wonderful news for all Americans! The ACA has already provided benefits that many families have experienced. Those will continue, and more are coming up between now and 2014. The Affordable Care Act was signed in 2010. The Supreme Court ruled, in June of 2012, that the Affordable Care Act will stand and will continue. As you are probably aware, the Republican party platform for the 2012 election emphasized their interest in repealing the Affordable Care Act. President Obama won the … Continue reading

Obama’s Proposed Budget Will Affect TRICARE

President Obama has created a budget that involves cuts to military health care spending. It appears that the plan includes an annual increase to the cost of premiums for TRICARE which could get as high as 345% of the current cost. It has been said that this increase dishonors veterans. TRICARE is a government run health insurance plan that is available for members of the United States Department of Defense Military Health Care System. This insurance provides health insurance benefits for current military personnel, for their dependents, and for military retirees, (who are also called Veterans). TRICARE is the civilian … Continue reading

Although the primary focus of his speech was not on health care, he did make some mention of that topic. The Wealthy Might Be Taxed On Their Health Insurance

Recently, President Obama revealed his Jobs Plan. Part of it includes the idea of making the wealthy pay a tax on their health insurance benefits. Currently, they don’t have to pay any such tax. There is some concern that this could eventually lead to taxing all health insurance, (even for the poor). President Obama recently revealed some of the details about his Jobs Plan. The plan itself, that has been submitted to Congress, is 155 pages long. To make a long story short, the Jobs Plan is a description of the changes, and laws, that need to be made in … Continue reading
